Altrincham General Hospital

Graham has been a consistent and effective campaigner on behalf of Altrincham General Hospital. When the Trust proposed its closure, Graham held a House of Commons debate, questioned the Secretary of State on the floor of the House, met with the Health managers responsible for the review into services, made several media appearances and joined constituents in protesting against the closure.  He is pictured here with his wife Victoria and other protestors at a vigil for the hospital.  He says that 'people power' saved Altrincham's Hospital and has welcomed the new investment at the site. Environment and Green Belt

Graham has been a consistent defender of the green belt, he opposed the rail freight interchange on green belt land at Carrington, on the grounds that it would have a major environmental impact.

His intervention with the Minister for Education was instrumental in defeating plans by the previous adminstration at Trafford to build on Grange Road Playing Fields in Bowdon.

Law and Order

Graham has fought to improve police funding in Greater Manchester and has held a parliamentary debate to raise the issue of GMP's unfair funding deal as well as raising the issue with Ministers.

He has also campaigned for Trafford to have a 'Place of Safety' under the Mental Health Act so that people with mental health problems who are arrested do not have to be held in police cells

National concerns : In Parliament
In Parliament Graham has intervened in a wide variety of issues: these include the lack of NHS dentists, the impact of EU legislation on the sale of vitamins and minerals and introducing a motion to end wasteful sittings in Strasbourg. One intervention with the Prime Minister resulted in a constituent receiving NHS funding for treatment to prevent blindness that had previously only been available privately.
