The results again show Trafford outperforming the national average. The percentage of pupils nationally achieving 5 GCSEs at A* - C is 67.0%, in Trafford the latest figures show that more than 80% of pupils achieved 5 good GCSEs . The results follow impressive achievements by Trafford's pupils at A level, with Trafford topping the table in the North West. Altrincham’s Garrick theatre has found itself out of pocket after Trafford Council decided against paying a grant of £21,000 which it has awarded the popular theatre for the past 9 years. The council decided to give the money instead to a credit union in Old Trafford. The decision means managers at the Garrick are looking at alternative ways to raise funds. Altrincham and Sale West MP Graham Brady has revealed that of the schools inspected by OFSTED in the past three years a high percentage of those rated ‘outstanding’ are to be found in selective or partially selective areas rather than in areas with comprehensive schools.

MP backs campaign to save post offices Altrincham and Sale MP Graham Brady has met with protestors in Westminster and is continuing to support the campaign to save Post Offices following a series of closures and cuts to the post office network. Graham said: 'We have lost a number of sub post offices in Altrincham and Sale and recently we have seen the main post office in Altrincham having to relocate in order to safeguard its future. House of Commons v House of Lords Tug of War
Graham Brady MP took part in the Commons v Lords Tug of War for the eleventh year in a row on June 10th 2008. The event raises money for Macmillan Cancer support, a charity which supports people living with cancer. This year's event raised a record amount for the charity.
